WESPINE Industries is jointly owned by Wesfarmers Limited and Fletcher Building Limited. We are a softwood sawmiller, specialising in the production of Pinus radiata, a premium quality plantation timber. Our product range includes dressed, stress graded and preservative treated timber, suitable for construction, renovations and furniture manufacturing.
The WESPINE sawmill has operated since 1985. In 1991/92, we signed an agreement with the Government of Western Australia to purchase sawlogs produced by state owned and private pine plantations, over a forty year period. Under the agreement,we committed to construct and operate a sawmill that would make full use of the economies of scale provided by the deal, producing timber for sale throughout Australia and the countries of the Pacific Rim. Our sawmill’s capacity is approximately 200,000 m3 output per year.
A new look and community engagement at Wespine
Following consultation with our employees, community stakeholders and customers Wespine has a new look. The stakeholders, in particular those in the community, provided valuable input into this process with the survey assisting in the development of the new branding and will also provide important information as we continue to assess new opportunities for Wespine.
The evolution of the brand is just one aspect of the changes taking place at Wespine, with continued investment in our employees and plant, including training for our staff and the new $8m continuous drying kiln that is currently under construction, to ensure Wespine remains competitive into the future.
Importantly Wespine is also very pleased to announce the establishment of a donations and sponsorship policy to provide the communities in which we operate an opportunity to request funding from us. With two funding rounds in each financial year it will allow not for profit organisations to plan for their events. The establishment of an employee committee to assess all applications for funding received is another initiative that Wespine feels will provide a fair and consistent approach for providing funding into the community.
The first of the two funding rounds will open on 2 July and close on 5 August. The application form is available by clicking here. If you are unable to download the form please contact Wespine on 08 9725 5777 and an application form will be sent to you. The application form details all the eligibility criteria for funding. The second round of funding will open in February 2019. Applications will be welcome from the communities in which we operate and which will be assessed against the criteria with organisations notified in early September of the outcome of their application. Managing Director Patrick Warrand said that “Wespine is really excited by the new look and importantly the deeper engagement with the local community in which we operate. Through working together with all of our stakeholders and investing into the future Wespine is planning on being here for some time.”
