Wespine specialises in the production of plantation-grown pine timber, using the Pinus radiata species cultivated on farmland in the southwest of Western Australia.
The Benefits of Timber
Focused on Sustainability & Environmental Impact we understand that Pine trees are a vital part of our environment, helping to filter water, clean the air, and absorb carbon from the atmosphere, all of which contribute to addressing climate change.
As a fast-growing species, pine can be harvested at around 30 years and replanted, creating a sustainable cycle that supports regional employment, helps control salinity and erosion, and provides a continuous timber resource for future generations.
According to the UN World Commission on Environment and Development, timber is a sustainable building material, allowing us to meet present needs without compromising those of the future.
Zero Waste Approach
At Wespine, we ensure that no part of the pine log goes to waste. When trees reach maturity, they are processed at our Dardanup sawmill into a variety of products, including premium-grade timber for construction, garden sleepers, fence posts, packaging materials, and woodchips for mulch. Even the sawdust finds a purpose at a nearby particleboard facility, supporting a truly efficient and eco-friendly production process.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations. By aligning with government and shareholder targets, we continue to implement sustainable, well-planned projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. While we are proud of our achievements, we believe that ongoing improvements are key to fostering a greener and more sustainable future.
